“I don’t have a photograph, but you can have my footprints. They’re upstairs in my socks.”
― Groucho Marx
Ok follow up mini grumble.
Been playing with Instagram some more and I have to admit it's a bit addictive. Here's a few samples:
#roseoftheday no2 "Purple Tiger"
and no 3 "Cliff Richard" (no really!)
#catoftheday no1 Walter in a box
and no2, Walter in another box
and finally bonus #roseoftheday Sally's bouquet (she was 21 today :-) )
So what do you think? I think I was being a tad harsh when I said instagram made rubbish pictures. It easily can, but sometimes it does add a certain 'something'. And Laura is right, it is great fun to use.
All the pix above were taken on the iPhone, if I'd had to go and fetch the 'real camera' I might not have bothered. As Chase Jarvis famously said, 'the best camera is the one you have with you' (and he made a few quid from saying it too - smart guy! :-) ) So anything that encourages you to use the kit in your pocket can only be a good thing right? Well maybe.
I suspect there will be an awful lot of chaff created which may bury the wheat. but who knows, images are so transient these days we don't generally print the vast majority of them. Just snap it, tweak it, and publish it. Then move on to the next.
I like photographs, I love good photographs, their colours, their textures, above all their light. Maybe instagram is a good thing after all.
But was it worth $1bn? Mark Zuckerberg clearly thought so. Maybe he was right.
Great photos, really love the cat in box ones - thats one photogenic moggy!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes, the camera really loves Walter, as do we of course :-)
ReplyDeleteCliff Richard is very pretty. There's something you don't say every day!
ReplyDeleteIn fact I don't think I have ever said it. (and I won't start now he's not really my type!) lol.
